About the camerasBoth the cameras are only 1 foot apart and at a height of 198 feet AMSL. Located in Melrose (hills above Kilbirnie)Camera 1 (Airport View)
The image that you see on the website is captured directly from the live image on the camera - It is current at the time you loaded the page or when the page last refreshed (the website will automatically refresh every five minutes). The main disadvantage of capturing an image directly from the live feed is it leaves the image at the mercy of our internet provider (Telstra Cable) who can be a little unreliable. Because the image is taken from the live feed there is no date and time stamp. You can also login to this camera for a live view. You'll need to choose either Active X or Java mode. If you don't have the software it'll install for you. (Active X takes less time to install). |

Camera 2 (Evans Bay View)
The camera is set to take smaller 320x240 image for the slide show. Doesn't like much light - to help out it now looks through a home made lens made out of old sunglasses! The camera does not have an option for a date and time stamp but it shouldn't be hard to work out the sequence - there are 8 rotating photos 5 minutes apart over the last 40 minutes (so long as nothing is wrong with our internet connection!). The camera stops up-loading just before dark and starts again at 6am. |
